Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to make an album?

In most cases, production time is 4-6 weeks.  This allows a couple of weeks for ordered supplies to arrive and then 2-4 weeks to put it together.  Making multiple changes, back ordered products, etc. could elevate the total processing time.  In those cases, clients will be notified immediately.  Be sure to let us know if there is a special date or deadline.  Special orders can be expedited for an additional fee.

What format do we send photos?

Depending on the type of scrapbook you want, either .jpgs or printed photos are acceptable. For digital books, digital files are best.  However, I can scan photos at an additional charge.  With traditional albums, either digital files or printed photos are accepted.  If printing is required, a small printing fee will be added.

How involved can I be in the design process?

During our consultation, we will go over all your preferences and dislikes.  Any special requests that you have, we will do our very best to accommodate. On custom books, I will provide photos by e-mail of the layouts as they are completed for your approval.  Changes can be made at that time.  However, if you prefer for it to be a surprise for final reveal, we can do that.  Every project is unique and designed for your preferences.

In some cases, an album can be created without photos or journaling.  We do the whole design of the album and leave room for your personalization.  You can then add your own photos and write your own stories.

Do you have packages or kits available?

I do have some coordinating packages available, though no two albums are exactly the same (unless requested).  With the Power Palettes that I purchase from Creative Memories, all the papers, stickers, & embellishments coordinate together, but the layouts are unique.  I am currently working on my own designs that will be available at a later date.

What is the difference between digital, traditional, & PicFolio?

Digital albums are compiled using a digital program and printed in a bound book (soft cover or hard cover options).  Digital albums can be printed multiple times.  Traditional scrapbooks use printed photos on paper with decorative stickers, paper, and embellishments.  PicFolio is a high quality slide in photo album with some enhancements.

How elaborate are the albums?  What if I just want something simple?

Any project can be done as simple or as elaborate as you like.  This is a preference to be discussed early in the consultation.  The goal is to preserve your photos, memories, and stories!

Is a deposit required?

Yes.  A quote will be provided prior to beginning a project.  Client must provide 50% deposit to start a project.  This will help pay for any materials or supplies needed.

How It Works

I've had several questions regarding the logistics of ordering an album.  I wanted to provide a basic outline of how it all works:

Step 1.  We will sit down and have a one-on-one consultation (or via phone/e-mail).  We'll discuss your needs, likes/dislikes, color preferences, theme choices, etc.  We'll customize your project top to bottom.  A quote will then be provided for you.  A 50% deposit is required to begin project.

Step 2. You supply me with photos and any journaling requirements.  If making a digital album, digital files are requested.  (There will be a small processing fee for photos that have to be scanned.)  For traditional albums, printed photos are best.  However, they may be sent digitally for a small printing fee.  When providing printed photos, be sure to have a backup!

Step 3. Time to start creating!  If requested, I will provide photos via e-mail as layouts are completed.  Changes can be made at that time.

Step 4. All done!  Final payment is made and finished product is sent!  It's that simple.

Gift Giving Options

Do you have a person in your family that is difficult to buy for?  They either have everything they need, buy what they want, or you just don't have a clue what they like?  Is there a special teacher or coach that you'd like to buy a special, personal gift for?   I have a solution to all of the above!  A CUSTOM SCRAPBOOK.

Why a scrapbook?  It is personal.  It is unique.  It is thoughtful.   It is a gift that they will not want to return!  It is a gift that can continue to be passed down and appreciated.

I have given scrapbooks as gifts for years.  People tell me they are the most special, priceless gift they receive.  I can tell you from experience that one of the first things that comes to mind when someone asks what one of my favorite gifts is - a scrapbook from one of the teams I use to coach.  It has been about 10 years now, but I still have it in my sitting room and look at it often.  The girls all made a page for me that had their picture and a personal note.  It meant so much to me - and still does.

There are several ideas to choose from for gifts.  There's the "given ones" - Wedding albums and Baby Albums.  Pretty straight forward.  Priceless.  Heritage albums are terrific!  They document families and individuals throughout their lives.  I'm working on a Heritage/Cookbook Album right now.  I'm very excited!  My grandmother LOVES cookbooks!  So, I'm putting together an album of recipes, photos, and stories.  Family members are submitting recipes (and I have some of hers), photos of them with her, and stories about her.  I'm actually doing this one digitally and printing it out in hard back book form.  Can't wait to see how it turns out!  Some other ideas would be classroom or team books for coaches.  (Again, great choice for digital album.  Parents can submit photos digitally and I can put it together.  Multiple copies can be printed if needed.)  Sibling albums are another great gift.  This can be done in traditional scrapbook form, PicFolio, or digital.  My mother-in-law made one for each of her sons for Christmas a couple of years ago.  They were identical to each other - she made doubles of all the photos through the years, added some stories, and "brothers" poetry.  My husband actually cried as he went through it!

The list goes on and on....  Feel free to share your own ideas!

If anyone is interested in ordering in time for Christmas, order now!  Production time is 4-6 weeks (takes about 2 weeks to get supplies shipped, 2-4 weeks to produce, and then shipping time to you).  Don't miss out!!  Contact me for your special quote.

Products I Use

I know there are so many products out there to choose from - some of which greatly effect the price of the scrapbooks.  For me personally, I have used Creative Memories albums & pages for over 12 years.  I know they are a little more pricey, comparatively speaking, but I truly believe they have the highest quality materials.  I especially love the flex hinge system and the reinforced edges on the pages.  Not to mention that the CM albums have a lifetime warranty.  With that being said, I do use a variety of papers, stickers, & embellishments - depending on the needs of the album.  I also LOVE the new Cricut!  It's super great for lettering.  As for tools and adhesives, again, I'm a die hard CM fan.  =)

I know... some of you are saying, "Of course she uses CM, she's a consultant."  Ah, but my friend the reason I am a consultant is because I love it so much!  Now that's not to say that I don't use other materials.  For personal use, I only use CM albums, pages, protectors, & tools.  But, I am a sticker fanatic - and love pretty paper.  So, send me to a scrapbooking store any day and I'll go crazy!  =)

And, for the record - I am open to using other supplies per special request!

Some of my favorites

This is one of my favorite pages.  It's really simple actually - just takes some patience.  It is a great way to use some old photos that you either have multiple shots of or not a lot of usable space other than the face on a photo.  I have a great square Shape Maker by Creative Memories.  It cuts 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" squares.  I just used the smaller cut for all the faces and the larger for the mats.  I placed the faces in order from youngest to oldest.  I'm pleased with how it turned out.  This is actually the front page of her 2-4 year old album.

This is another simple title page made with a few left overs and the CriCut.  I love the tearing method, as you can see.  I had some scrap paper that I cut the letters from.  I'm also enjoying the new CM paper flowers.
